Colonel David Dixon is a member of the United States Air Force, and the leader of SG-13.

History

David Dixon was a long-serving member of Stargate Command, a full Colonel and on a first-name basis with Jack O'Neill by the time of SG-13's mission to P3X-666.  (SG1: "Heroes, Part 2")

During a routine mission on P3X-666, SG-13 was detected by a Goa'uld reconnaissance probe while exploring the ruins of an Ancient city. At the time, both Stargate Command and Anubis were searching for the Lost City of the Ancients, and evidently Anubis suspected - as SG-13 archaeologist Cameron Balinsky did - that the ruins on P3X-666 might contain information on its possible location, deploying a sizeable force of Jaffa with air support by Death Gliders and Al'kesh to secure the planet. SG-13 found itself cut off from the Stargate, and when Senior Airman Simon Wells was hit by staff weapon fire, they made a request for reinforcement and extraction. SG-1, SG-3, and SG-5 were deployed along with Janet Fraiser, participating in what was retroactively referred to as the Battle of P3X-666. While all members of SG-13 survived, Doctor Fraiser was killed in action.  (SG1: "Heroes, Part 1", "Heroes, Part 2")

Simon Wells' recovery time briefly removed SG-13 from active duty, a situation compounded by the appointment of Doctor Elizabeth Weir to conduct a three-month review of Stargate operations under the direction of the newly-inaugurated President of the United States, Henry Hayes. As a result, SG-13 did not participate in the mission to P3X-439, and played no part in the subsequent Battle of Antarctica, leaving Colonel Dixon feeling somewhat robbed of any payback prior to Anubis' presumed death.  (SG1: "Inauguration", "Lost City, Part 1", "Lost City, Part 2", "New Order, Part 1", "New Order, Part 2")

Following Jack O'Neill's promotion to Brigadier General, approval was given for an expansion from twenty-one active SGC teams to twenty-five, and Colonel Dixon was chosen to help oversee the selection of those new members. This left Colonel Albert Reynolds as the next-in-command at the SGC during the initial weeks of O'Neill's command, a role that would otherwise have fallen to Dixon. Following the discovery of a gate address to Atlantis, Dixon was additionally tasked with helping Doctor Weir select members for her Atlantis Expedition.  (SG1: "Zero Hour"; ATL: "Rising")

SG-13 finally returned to active duty following the departure of the Atlantis Expedition, with Elizabeth Satterfield replacing Doctor Balinsky, who had been reassigned to SG-22. This lasted only a few months, until Jake Bosworth volunteered for a temporary transfer to SG-3, participating in the unsuccessful Pegasus Expedition led by General George Hammond aboard Prometheus. While SG-13 was still a member short, The Trust enacted a plan to provoke a conflict between the United States and the Russians by implanting several officers - including Minister of Defense Miraslov Kiselev - with symbiotes. Under increasing tension to smooth over relations with the Russians in the aftermath, General O'Neill convinced a reluctant Colonel Dixon to accept Lieutenant Natalia Tolinev as the new fourth member of his team. Shortly afterwards, Simon Wells requested a reassignment from offworld duty to spend more time with his young daughter, allowing Jake Bosworth to transfer back to SG-13 in his place.  (SG1: "Prometheus Unbound", "Full Alert", "Moebius, Part 1")

Fortunately, for the sake of Colonel Dixon's sanity, SG-13 managed to persist in this latest configuration for the next two years, well into the Ori Crusade. Following the arrival of Ori ships through the Supergate at P3Y-229, SG-13's priority became evacuating vulnerable populations from worlds visited by the Priors, before the Ori had the opportunity to expose them to the Prior Plague or R-75. It was in this capacity that SG-13 participated in the evacuation of P3X-367.  (SGR: "The Arrow")
