History

The ruins on P3X-666 seemed to resemble the architectural style of Vis Uban, suggesting that they were constructed during the late pre-Lantean phase of the Ancient civilization, prior to the activation of the Dakara Device and their cultural migration to the Pegasus Galaxy. This is consistent with the theory posed by Jonas Quinn that the Stargate addresses added to the SGC database by Jack O'Neill from the Repository of Knowledge were in some kind of sequential or chronological order: P3X-666 indeed appears to be newer than previously encountered Ancient sites.  (SG1: "The Fifth Race", "Fallen", "Heroes, Part 1")

P3X-666 was initially surveyed by SG-13, under the command of Colonel David Dixon. Team archaeologist Cameron Balinsky recognised the wealth of valuable knowledge potentially contained within, but SG-13 was not the only group to discover the ruins: a Goa'uld reconnaissance probe sent by Anubis already arrived to survey the ruins, and alerted him to the presence of the SG team. Reinforcements were deployed, not just by Stargate but from orbit as well. Airman Simon Wells was hit by staff fire, and with the rest of SG-13 cut off from the gate, Balinsky barely made it back to Stargate Command to request reinforcements. SG-1, SG-3, and SG-5 were deployed along with Doctor Janet Fraiser, to stabilise Wells' condition and secure the gate long enough for a successful extraction. While Wells was successfully evacuated, Doctor Fraiser was hit by an errant staff blast and killed in action.  (SG1: "Heroes, Part 1", "Heroes, Part 2")
