Matthew Kearney
|
Major Matt Kearney is a member of the United States Air Force, and is currently second-in-command at the Beta Site.
History
Kearney was a member of the Stargate Command security detail when General Jack O'Neill first assumed command. He was present when the disembodied Anubis began possessing members of base personnel in an (ultimately successful) attempt to escape through the Stargate. He was also present during the defense of the facility against the Replicators, helping to hold the line until the Dakara Superweapon could be activated, and its disruption wave translated through the gate. (SG1: "Lockdown", "Reckoning, Part 2")
He was assigned to the Beta Site shortly after General Hank Landry's appointment, around the same time that construction began on the Odyssey. With the formation of the Free Jaffa Nation and the establishment of a new capital on Dakara, the Beta Site had begun to render assistance in resettling former refugees and resistance fighters on newly Jaffa-controlled worlds, and with the logistical challenges of establishing supply lines between those worlds. Kearney's role was to ensure that the Beta Site itself continued to operate smoothly, freeing Colonel Louis Ferretti to focus on the more diplomatic aspects of the Beta Site's role. With the outbreak of the Ori Crusade, and the refugee crises it created, that assistance to Colonel Ferretti only proved increasingly beneficial. (SGR: "The Arrow")
