Louis Ferretti

Colonel Louis Ferretti is a member of the United States Air Force, and commander of the Beta Site.
History
Louis Ferretti was one of the original members of the Abydos Expedition: the first official mission through the Stargate by the United States Air Force, before Stargate Command had even been established. He was one of three individuals to return from Abydos, and one of only four survivors - the other being Daniel Jackson, who remained offworld. Following the breach of Cheyenne Mountain by Apophis, Ferretti was selected for a second trip to Abydos; during an ambush by Goa'uld forces he was badly injured, but managed to identify the Stargate address for the planet Chulak. After the death of Major Charles Kawalksy, and after Ferretti's own recovery, he was chosen as the leader of SG-2, a position he held for several years. When SG-1 went against orders in an effort to head off a Goa'uld attack on Earth, Ferretti and his team were under orders to retrieve SG-1 for court martial; though given past actions, it seems just as likely that he and his team would have aided rather than hindered SG-1. However, the destination address had connected to a Stargate aboard a Ha'tak, and when the ship entered hyperspace the address was rendered invalid. SG-2 was instead retasked with establishing an emergency Alpha Site: an offworld evacuation site to allow select individuals to escape the impending Goa'uld attack. Ferretti remained one of Stargate Command's veteran members. Following Jack O'Neill's dismissal from SG-1, he was suggested as a possible replacement. (SG1: "Shades of Grey")
Shortly thereafter, Ferretti had been reassigned, replaced as leader of SG-2 by Major Michael Patrick Coburn, and then a succession of other officers. Ferretti remained with the Stargate Program, however, and by the time of the Ori Crusade had achieved the rank of Colonel, serving as the inaugural — and thus far only — commanding officer at the Beta Site. Louis Ferretti was portrayed by French Stewart in Stargate, and by Brent Stait in 3 episodes of Stargate SG-1, and by French Stewart in the original Stargate movie.
French Stewart also portrayed Doctor Andrew Covel in Stargate Universe, and may be familiar as Harry Solomon from 3rd Rock from the Sun. Brent Stait may be familiar as Rev Bem on Andromeda, Doctor Fate on Smallville, among other roles.
