Special Agent Kerry Johnson is a member of the Central Intelligence Agency, currently investigating Goa'uld connections to the NID and The Trust.

History

Kerry Johnson was briefed on the Stargate Program following a series of actions by a group of Rogue NID operatives calling themselves The Trust. After using the Osiris Al'kesh to steal the Stargate and deploy symbiote poison against numerous defensive worlds, the Trust agents fled into hyperspace, where they were captured by the Goa'uld and taken as hosts. Returning to Earth, the Goa'uld infiltrated The Trust further, and used its connections to take other hosts in prominent positions as well, most notably including the Russian Minister of Defense, Miraslov Kiselev. While Stargate Command was able to prevent a planned nuclear altercation between the United States and the Template:Russians, the incident and potential aftermath became a matter of concern for the Central Intelligence Agency. With the NID suspected to have been compromised by The Trust as well, the CIA volunteered Special Agent Johnson, one of their internal investigators, to take point on determining the extent of the Goa'uld's influence.  (SG1: "Endgame", "Full Alert", "Citizen Joe")

Johnson began coordinating with General Jack O'Neill at Stargate Command. The two briefly pursued a romantic relationship, but Johnson broke things off once it became clear that O'Neill's affections lay elsewhere. She advised O'Neill to prioritise his personal wellbeing over his career, and pointed out that he probably had enough political capital after multiple instances of saving the world to pursue the romance he wanted without it compromising his involvement in the Stargate Program. The two continue to have a healthy and productive working relationship regardless of their history.  (SG1: "Citizen Joe", "Threads")

During the early stages of the Ori Crusade, Johnson's investigation into The Trust was still ongoing when Ba'al used the organization to set up a safe haven for himself on Earth. While it was presumed that Ba'al's clone duplicates had succeeded in their efforts on Earth following their infiltration of Stargate Command and eventual escape, Johnson's subordinates James Marrick and Edmund Burke theorised that there was still a viable possibility of Ba'al clones at large on Earth, particularly given the recent abduction of Vala Mal Doran by Charlotte Mayfield (Athena).  (SG1: "Ex Deus Machina", "Insiders", "Memento Mori"; SGR: "The Arrow")

Behind the Scenes

Kerry Johnson was portrayed by Clare Carey in 1 episode of Stargate SG-1, and mentioned in two others. She is familiar as Ann Gibbs on NCIS, and Kathleen McHugh on Chuck.

Johnson's appearence in SGR is a cameo, as a reminder of the CIA's involvement in the Stargate Program, and a way to bridge Agent Burke into the story. While she is never described as anything other than "Kerry Johnson" in SG-1, her being a Special Agent in SGR has a few different layers of meaning. Unlike other investigative agencies, a Special Agent in the CIA is one specifically focused on internal investigations: it makes sense that someone brought in to investigate the NID would have a background in that sort of investigation. Carey also played Ann Gibbs, the mother of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS, so the title counts as a small easter egg as well.
