Affiliation: Book of Origin (Ori)

Portrayed by: Doug Abrahams

The Prior of Ver Isca is a Human augmented by the Ori, who presided over the village of Ver Isca.

History

This Prior was responsible for Ver Isca, the village in which Vala Mal Doran found herself after accidentally travelling through the Supergate at Kallana. He was responsible for healing Tomin of his limp so that he could participate in the Ori Crusade, and was aware of Vala's immaculate pregnancy with the Orici. He commanded the Ori Mothership that Vala travelled aboard through the P3Y-229 Supergate, and served as Adria's guardian and protector during Daniel Jackson's attempts to rescue Vala and kill the Orici.  (SG1: "Beachhead", "Crusade", "Flesh and Blood")

He was the Prior that travelled to P3X-367, engaging in a verbal debate between the Book of Origin and the fables and idioms of Shamda. Unsuccessful in swaying the population, he left them with an ultimatum, but returned ahead of schedule for unknown reasons. Using his Ori Mothership, he targeted the Ancient Outpost on the planet and destroyed it from orbit, wiping out an enclave of the Alterans.  (SGR: "The Arrow")

During the search for SG-1 and Merlin, he accompanied Adria for most of her pursuit through the various planets Morgan Le Fay transported Merlin's laboratory through. Given the destruction of one Ori ship by a Supergate vortex and the extermination of the crew of the other with the Dakara superweapon, he would have been the commander of one of only two fully-crewed Ori Motherships at the time. It is unclear if the Ori sent another Prior to pilot the third.  (SG1: "The Pegasus Project", "Counterstrike", "The Quest, Part 1", "The Quest, Part 2")

Behind the Scenes

This Prior was portrayed by Doug Abrahams in 4 episodes of Stargate SG-1, and Stargate: The Ark of Truth. He also portrayed Commander Hale in "Shadow Play" and "Homecoming".

Because of the scar over his eye, this is arguably the most visually striking - or at least, easiest to describe - of the Priors. He was also chosen based on the logic that Tomin would not be present: he seems to have been with the Administrator from Ver Eger at this stage ("Line in the Sand", Ark of Truth) rather than with the Prior from Ver Isca. There isn't any specific reason for that choice, it just turns out that the SGC have been surprisingly effective at killing off most of the Priors they showed on camera. Go team!
